ITINERARY
ITINERARY
8:00 AM → 12:00 PM
8 AM: welcome at our home
-
Your culinary adventure begins right at our cozy home in Saigon. You’ll be warmly greeted by me and my lovely mom—your hosts and chefs for the day. We’ll enjoy a quick introduction over a welcome drink before setting off together.
8:15 AM: wet market visit
-
We’ll hop in the scooter/car and drive you to a bustling local market, just like how Saigonese families do every morning. At the market, you’ll explore vibrant stalls full of color, aroma, and life. We’ll shop together for everything we need for our meal:
-
Fresh Basa fish for our caramelized claypot fish
-
Beef, and we’ll teach you how to pick the freshest cuts
-
Tonkin creeper flowers, herbs, tropical vegetables, tamarind, and more
9:30 AM – Homecook Session Begins
Back home, it’s time to roll up your sleeves and cook with us in our family kitchen! You’ll learn how to prepare three delicious Southern Vietnamese dishes:
MENU DESCRIPTION
-
Cá Basa Kho Tộ – Braised Basa Fish in Claypot with Caramelized Coconut Sauce A classic Southern comfort dish. We slow-braise fillets of fresh basa fish in a traditional claypot with coconut water, fish sauce, palm sugar, shallots, garlic, and black pepper. The result is a rich, savory-sweet sauce that pairs perfectly with jasmine rice.

-
2. Canh Chua – Southern Vietnamese Sweet & Sour Soup A staple soup of the Mekong Delta. This light, tangy-sweet soup features tamarind broth, pineapple, tomato, okra, bean sprouts, and elephant ear stalk, often with catfish or shrimp. Garnished with rice paddy herbs, it’s a refreshing contrast to the savory dishes.

-
Bông Thiên Lý Xào Bò – Stir-Fried Tonkin Creeper Flowers with Beef - A fragrant and rare seasonal specialty. The green Tonkin creeper flowers are stir-fried with thinly sliced beef, garlic, and oyster sauce. It’s fresh, slightly crunchy, and beautifully aromatic—a hidden gem of Vietnamese cuisine.

11:30 AM – Enjoy Our Homemade Feast
-
After cooking, we’ll all sit down together and enjoy the meal we’ve made—family-style. This is more than just food; it’s a true cultural experience from our hearts and kitchen to yours.

12:00 PM – Tour Ends, But Memories Stay
-
We’ll say our goodbyes, full and happy! You’ll leave with a full belly, new skills, local knowledge, and warm memories of our time together.
